Football player arrested
September 24, 2013

Weber State University football player Hasan Ali was booked into the Weber County Jail on Sunday, charged with retail theft. The redshirt freshman has been suspended from the team, but, according to head coach Jody Sears, “We use each situation as a teachable moment.”
Sears said the football team has a set standard for conduct, and that Ali will be held to the same standard as anyone on the team.
“There’s two principles that are the foundation of our program, and that’s honesty and accountability,” Sears said. “When those things are violated, and the standard is broken, there are consequences, and we are following the process to a T.”
Ali’s court date was scheduled for this morning. More information about the case will be available at www.wsusignpost.com later today, and a full story will appear in Friday’s issue.
