This week, I have had a lot of great things happen that are worth telling its story. Things like an incredible trip to Washington, D.C., Halloween, and how to effectively use Sundays. But none of those things relate to sports.
So now I am left with a little bit of a conundrum. I have nothing to write about. Lately my inspiration has been lacking immensely, and I have really been struggling coming up with awesomeness.
But don’t fret quite yet. At the last minute, my inspiration always comes through. Like it always has, it has provided me with a great topic for today.
This week, the Baltimore Ravens play the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers have a record of 6-2 and the Ravens are 5-2. Now, these two teams have the biggest rivalry in the National Football League. Every time the teams play each other, it’s almost as if it’s a life-and-death situation.
This game on Sunday is a big one. The Steelers and Ravens started out their season playing each other. The Ravens played one of their best games (I’m still hoping they did not peak on that first game). The Ravens’ defense caused seven turnovers and only let the Steelers score seven points.
Offensively, Joe Flacco read the defense well, and he had a solid throwing game. The Ravens scored 35 points. In other words, it was a total blowout against the Steelers, and it was awesome!
I do understand that it was the beginning of the season. Things can definitely change from the first of the season to the middle to the end of the season. Right now, we are in the middle of the season, and the Ravens have not been performing as the team they are.
Two weeks ago, the Ravens played the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Ravens are better in every aspect of the game than the Jaguars, and they lost that game 12-7. 12-7? Really. Seriously, the Ravens should never, ever only put up seven points in one game. That is just awful and outlandish. Plus, the Jaguars are not even good. So I don’t know what the heck happened that day.
Last week, they played the Arizona Cardinals. Again, a game that was too close for comfort. The Ravens did win that game 30-27, but it should not have been won by a field goal at the end.
With the big game this weekend, the Ravens cannot be a pansy team. They really need to step up their game if they are going to beat the Steelers. The Steelers have been playing really well lately. I am getting nervous. The Steelers playing well and the Ravens playing not well is starting to put a foreboding tint to this game.
I do have faith in my Ravens, but I am not going to make any predictions about this game, because I am afraid I am going to jinx the destined outcome so that it flips to the opposite. So, for now, all I am going to say is that I have faith and, win or lose, I will still love the Ravens and continue to be a lone Ravens fan in Utah.
