I love movies, so much so that I frequent movie theaters more than the average person — three to four times a week to be exact. Because of this, I hope you’ll join me this semester as I write a weekly review of my favorite movie of the week.
Now some of you might be asking what qualifies me to review a movie? The answer is quite simple, and it begins with the aforementioned fact that I go to the movies a lot. But what is more important than me simply seeing a movie is being able to provide you, the reader, with something they can’t find somewhere else.
Because of this, I will not review the movies that everyone is already planning on seeing regardless. Instead, I am going to review for you MY favorite films.
This inevitably leads to another question: Why should you care about which movie is my favorite?
I am just an average, poor college student, like many of you. No one is paying me the big bucks to give some big hit two thumps up. Because of this, I venture to say my taste is comparable to many of you reading this. I’m not a snob nor a professional. I’m just your friendly neighborhood Arts and Entertainment desk editor.
So as you go on this journey with me, there are some things you should expect from me. Although my weekly reviews will be editorialized, they will be jam-packed with facts — perhaps some opinions that I spin as fact. They will also be full of fun and adventure. Sometimes, they may even get a little gushy. But most importantly, they’re sure to nail your funny bone.
In other words, I won’t limit my reviews to one genre that only a niche audience will enjoy. I’ll be covering everything. If one week my review doesn’t tickle your fancy, come back the next to discover what movie I’ve picked. Seeing as there are only so many new movies that come out each week, I might have to review a movie that has been out for a week or so, but it’s my hope that each week Hollywood gives me something great to watch.
I also would appreciate your involvement. If there’s a movie you’d like to see me review, let me know. I’ll go see it, and if it turns out to be my favorite of the week, then there’ll be a review by the week’s end.
