Here at Weber State University, there’s more life on campus than just students and faculty. When entering the campus off of Harrison Boulevard, around the back of the Miller Administration Building, the Ada Lindquist Plaza and Pond can be found. This is where students can relax, and many geese and ducks reside, adding much character to the pond. In 2021, the pond was drained, and volunteers from Wasatch Domestic Waterfowl Resource rounded up around sixty ducks and geese since, without their water, they would be open to predators. While some were adopted, permanently relocated or brought back, nothing has stopped random locals from dropping their unwanted waterfowl off at the pond. Students and faculty have been advised not to feed the waterfowl since it could make bad habits for them. Still, these feathered creatures have been and continue to remain an unofficial Weber mascot.
