Mystery message
The Weber State University Police Department responded on Jan. 7 to an email containing the word “shoot” that respondents described as suspicious. Campus police were unable to contact the sender of the message.
Beus Pond marijuana bust
On Jan. 8, a Weber State officer seized two bags of marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside a vehicle parked by Beus Pond. Officers conducted a probable cause search after detecting a strong odor coming from the vehicle. Parties were issued a verbal warning.
Buzzing in Browning
On Jan. 9, WSU police were dispatched to a report of children riding scooters in the Browning Center. Officers trespassed the children, contacted their guardians and escorted them off campus.
Shots. Shots. Shots.
On Jan. 10, WSU officers responded to a sound complaint made by resident advisors at Wildcat Village. Around 11:30 p.m., resident advisors reported hearing repeated shouts of “Shots. Shots. Shots.” At arrival, officers encountered five individuals and an empty bottle of alcohol. All the residents complied with the officers’ request to keep quiet.
Stolen Outdoor Adventure equipment
On Jan. 20, the Outdoor Adventure building staff informed Weber State officers of stolen equipment by two individuals. Officers were able to retrieve the stolen items two hours later using the camera footage and the suspects’ credit card and rental information.
