According to the U.S Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), sex discrimination involves treating someone (an applicant or employee) unfavorably because of that person’s gender. This can include treating a person less favorable because they might be affiliated with an organization geared toward a certain sex or discriminating against anyone because of their gender identity.

As a part of the Stop the Hate series hosted by Weber State’s Diversity and Inclusive program, there will be a sex discrimination panel held on March 24 at 6 p.m. The panel will discuss what sex discrimination looks like, the laws and how to help prevent further discrimination.

In an email from the Stop the Hate chair for Diversity and Unity, Slim Ben Khalifa explains that the focus of his job is on the misconceptions, biases and stereotypes surrounding certain topics.

Khalifa has organized this event to help bring focus to the truth about the many misconceptions there are about sex discrimination. He has brought panel members together from different genders and backgrounds to discuss their own personal experience with sex discrimination.
