In the cacophony of school, work and a social life, it’s easy to forget to take time to recharge mental batteries. One way students students can do this is by attending cultural events like a symphony or ballet.
Beginning this fall, the Ogden Symphony Ballet Association (OSBA) will be offering a student flex pass for the 2014-15 performance season. In the past, student tickets have been available for rush purchase at a fraction of the full price. The student flex pass makes seeing OSBA events more reasonable for students, slashing the price of a single ticket even further.
Priced at $40 for the season, the student flex pass provides six punches, or the equivalent of up to six tickets at approximately $7 a punch. All performances will cost one punch except entertainment series concerts, which cost two punches. The student flex pass is not applicable for the “Cirque de la Symphonie” performance on Oct. 30.
Students can also get involved with the OSBA by joining their student association, Allegro!. Members of Allegro receive special discounts on rush tickets, tickets bought within one week of the performance, and are invited to attend special receptions prior to performance. Pre-performance receptions have refreshments and provide students the opportunity to meet and talk with other students that are interested in classical music. For more information about Allegro!, students can contact Marianne Asmus, president of Allegro! at [email protected].
The OSBA is also offering another discount to faculty and staff as their way of welcoming them back to school. By mentioning the “back to school” special, faculty and staff can receive $5 off of OSBA’s first performance of the year, “Bronfman Plays Brahms” with the Utah Symphony on Sept. 18.
“Bronfman Plays Brahms” is the first performance of the 2014-15 season. With Thierry Fischer conducting and Yefim Bronfman at the piano, the Utah Symphony will perform Stravinsky’s “Symphonies of Wind Instruments,” Schoenberg’s “Transfigured Night” and Brahms’ “Piano Concerto No. 2.”
