What is The Signpost?

The Signpost is Weber State University’s student news organization, publishing the news and events on campus and around Ogden twice a week. It is student-run, and the students’ First Amendment rights are protected both by University policy and Communication Department policy.

Ethics

Student journalists, photographers, videographers, graphic artists and those in other roles subscribe to the ethics of the Society of Professional Journalists and our own Signpost Code of Ethics.

The Signpost news can be found at https://thesignpostwsu.com and the twice-weekly digital edition at https://issuu.com/thesignpostwsu. Print copies of the Tuesday issue are available in newsstands across the Weber State Ogden and Davis campuses during fall and spring semesters.

Our offices are on the fourth floor of the Shepherd Union (SU401) in the center of campus.

How to join

The Signpost is a preprofessional training ground for students in various disciplines including writing, editing, photography, graphic arts, videography, business and social media. It is both a class (COMM 2890 or COMM 3890) and a student activity. Participation may qualify students for tuition waivers or other scholarships. Apply to join the staff at this link.
