Lillard has career night on WSU's birthday
January 9, 2014
Damian Lillard, former star point guard at Weber State University and reigning Rookie of the Year in the NBA, had one of the best games of his career Tuesday night. Lillard vowed to show his Wildcat pride for the 125th anniversary of the founding of WSU by wearing purple underneath his uniform. With the night he had, he might want to make it a daily ritual.
Lillard scored a career-high 41 points, making seven 3-pointers in the game. Lillard nearly brought his team back to win the game in the final minute, scoring 26 points in the fourth quarter and 14 points in the final minute of game time. It wasn’t enough, though, as the Blazers lost to the Sacramento Kings 123-119.
“I just didn’t want to lose the game,” said Lillard in response to his fourth-quarter production.
