As temperatures dip and summer comes to a close, opportunities for a number of jobs are opening up at Snowbasin Resort.

This Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the annual Winter Job Fair will take place at Snowbasin in Earl’s Lodge, with various department managers on site answering questions and taking applications.

Eric Stanford, a Weber State University graduate student currently working on his master’s degree in English, has worked at Snowbasin for two years, teaching people of all ages the art of snowboarding.

“Working as an instructor at Snowbasin has been the most rewarding job I’ve had,” Stanford said. “I’ve made lifelong friends, progressed in my riding ability, and have some of my most memorable times on the mountain with my lessons and co-workers.”

Along with instructing, positions are available in lift operations, terrain park hosts, snowmaking, ticket sales, food and beverage, guest services, retail sales, security and rentals, among others.

“Growing up on a farm, I’ve always operated heavy equipment, and I love winter, so driving a Snowcat would be a dream job for me,” said WSU student Aaron Briggs, who said he will be attending the job fair this weekend.

Snowbasin is gearing up to hire a large staff for the 2013-14 season.

“We are really excited to have people come up here and see the numerous opportunities we have to offer for some really fun jobs,” said Jason Dyer, marketing and public relations manager for Snowbasin.

With such a large mountain and so many various operations taking place, Snowbasin will need to hire a large staff to keep things running smoothly, Dyer said. He said Snowbasin hopes to see a multitude of people at the job fair this weekend to build its team.
