After a 4-game trip to Colorado, the Weber State University Wildcats hockey team traveled back to the Beehive State for a matchup against Utah Valley University and then against the University of New Hampshire.

Weber State traveled to Orem, Utah, the home of the Wolverines, and delivered a beatdown for the second straight time versus Utah Valley. The first matchup ended in a 17–0 victory for the hometown Wildcats. However, playing on home ice can give the home side a distinct advantage. Weber came in and put those analytics to bed, scoring nine goals in the first period alone while UVU was shut out.

Period two arrived with more fireworks as the Wildcats put the puck in the back of the Wolverines’ net three more times. The Wolverines were able to muster a moral victory, scoring their first goal of the season against Weber, and the second period ended 12–1.

In the homestretch, Weber put the Wolverines to bed by scoring three more goals and silencing the home crowd with a 14-goal loss as Weber State won 15–1.

Weber vs. University of New Hampshire.

The game against New Hampshire started with both teams getting a feel for each other until Weber State broke the deadlock with 8:48 left in the first period. Simon Verschuere answered the call, taking the puck away from New Hampshire after a face-off on the Weber side of the ice and skated all the way down with the puck and put the puck in the back of the net on a solo goal. The rest of the period remained scoreless with Weber State holding onto a one-goal lead.

In the second period, it was quiet for the first five minutes until Parker James passed the puck to Caden Hunter, who took a first-time shot for the score to take a 2–0 lead. Weber won the face-off after the goal and scored again just six seconds later to go up 3–0. Weber scored one more time with 18 seconds left in the period to take a convincing lead heading into the third.

Less than a minute into the third period, New Hampshire was able to finally get onto the scoresheet. However, that momentum lasted only a short while, as Weber’s ferocious attacking presence resulted in yet another goal for Hunter. Both teams kept exchanging blows, with the hometown team scoring once more, for a final score of 6–2. Makar Klochkov and Hunter both scored twice in the game to lead the way to yet another Weber State victory.

Weber State will now prepare for the Wasatch Cup, scheduled for Jan. 30-31.
