Fresh pickings on 25th Street

The now-22-year long ongoing tradition of Farmers Market Ogden has once again taken over the streets of Historic 25th Street for the summer.

The 2023 summer season Farmers Market began on May 27 and will be running every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m until Sept. 9.

The event begins with a free community yoga class offered weekly in the Municipal Park beginning at 9 a.m. and running until 10 a.m. The free class leads a meditation and helps guide participants to take part in a guided yoga workout for a relaxing beginning to the weekend event.

Afterward, people are able to stroll freely through Historic 25th Street to enjoy many different local musicians that take the stage, as well as the sidewalks and alleyways along 25th Street throughout the event, all while shopping from the many local vendors selling products such as handmade baskets, woven clothing, a variety of produce and plenty of delicious, freshly-baked treats available for purchase.

Something else people may notice while attending the ongoing summer Farmers Market is a sign taped to many vendors’ booths around the market, which encourages shoppers to donate spare change to the vendors participating in the program.

The money donated can go toward purchasing fresh produce options for others in the community who are not able to afford this option, while still supporting these small businesses.

Farmers Market Ogden has always been a staple in the Ogden community. The event allows people to come out and support not only the small businesses and the local musical talents, but it also helps bring together the residents of Ogden and build that sense of community with one another.
