Dear WSU students,
Weber State University is in the dream realization business, and we are committed to offering you the best opportunities. Whether you’re a new or returning student, we will help you make your dream happen.
We have more than 200 undergraduate degree programs to match your passions and interests, and you can chase your dream of a college education even higher with a master’s degree. This summer, WSU added two new master’s degree programs: A Master of Science in Computer Engineering and a Master of Science in Nursing-Nurse Practitioner. That brings our total number of graduate programs up to 13!
You’ll see other signs of progress across the university. The Tracy Hall Science Center is really taking shape on the north end of the Ogden campus. Before the start of fall semester 2016, you’ll have a fantastic facility for learning science and math. For now, though, please pardon any inconvenience caused by the construction.
Weber State is a place where opportunities abound, but you have to work hard to grasp them. I encourage you to focus on taking at least 30 credit hours each year in order to graduate in four years and realize your dream sooner. Our campus is full of faculty and staff who truly care about WSU students’ success, so make sure to reach out.
There’s still plenty of time for fun, however. Come to the Wildcat Block Party at the Ogden campus on Friday Sept. 4, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can enjoy free breakfast from 8:15 to 9:30 a.m., when I’ll be serving purple pancakes! You can also take part in activities, visit booths and sample great food.
Whether you attend most of your classes in Ogden, at WSU Davis in Layton, at one of our centers or online, there are plenty of opportunities to learn and grow, both inside and outside of the classroom. Join a community service project through the Center for Community Engaged Learning, sign up for an intramural sport, make new friends at the Multicultural Student Center or start a research project with one of our amazing faculty members. Learn, grow and make your dream happen!
With best wishes,
Charles A. Wight
