Soccer team signs Weber High standout

This week, the Weber State University women’s soccer team announced the recent signing of Shalee Davis to a National Letter of Intent.

Davis, a 5-foot-2 forward, will join the Wildcats out of Weber High School in Pleasant View, Utah. In high school, she was a four-year letter-winner for the Warriors. Davis led WHS in scoring as a junior and senior, helping the team to back-to-back state 5-A tournament appearances. She was also named All-State as a junior and senior.

WSU head coach Tim Crompton said he is excited to add Davis to the team and thinks she can help the team’s offense in the upcoming season.

“Shalee is a competitor, and we look forward to her joining us this fall,” Crompton said. “We’re excited to add another strong player to our 2013 signing class.”

Davis played her club soccer for La Roca and competed in the Far West Regional Championships. She is the fourth Utah player to sign with WSU as part of the Wildcats’ 2013 signing class, joining Sydnie Stokes, Lana Willard and Kelsi Tatton. Davis and Tatton are already familiar with each other, as they were high school teammates.

WSU’s soccer team has played four spring games this year. In preparation for the upcoming fall season, the Wildcats have played Brigham Young University and Southern Utah University in an indoor tournament in February, earning a draw against each club. They have also played the University of Nevada, Las Vegas; Utah Valley University; Utah State University and Westminster College.

The soccer team will kick off regular season play in August.
