Día de los Muertos is a holiday where loved ones who have passed on are celebrated. Here in Ogden, there is a bridge between the living and the dead, constructed through music, dance and remembrance at the Evergreen Memorial Park, where the community came together in support of one of Mexico’s traditions on Nov. 1.
Hosted by Oaxaca en Utah and Myers Mortuary, this community event brought families together to honor their loved ones through colorful altars and displays.
Attendees brought photographs of their relatives to join a candlelit procession through the cemetery to honor the ones who were once with us. Children also lined up for face painting, while food trucks offered various Mexican dishes and vendors selling traditional Mexican products such as sugar skulls, panchos, jewelry and more.
Throughout the event, there were many performances by many attendees who were dressed up in traditional Mexican attire and there was also a catrina dress-up contest.
As the sun began to set, the music continued to play throughout the cemetery and families stood together with their photos and flickering candles.
