True freshman running back Treshawn Garrett is this week’s Signpost Athlete of the Week for his efforts in the teams 23-3 victory against UC Davis on Nov. 7.
During the game, Garrett had a career day, rushing for 152 yards and the teams only two touchdowns, including one from 21 yards out. He also recorded two receptions for a total of 18 receiving yards. On the season, he has recorded 550 total yards in 115 carries for a season average of 4.8 yards per carry and 4 touchdowns.
In an interview after the game, Garrett remarked, “I haven’t had a game like this since high school. Today was a team effort and everything just clicked for all of us to make things happen. I had a lot of fun.”
Garrett has been one of the key parts of the football team, which has gone 5-5 on the season and are looking to finish with a winning record—a feat that has not happened since 2010. The team, and Garrett, will finish the season Nov. 21 against Idaho State University in Ogden.
