The Shepherd Union ballrooms at Weber State University were transported to an earlier era Friday as students danced the night away in neon.

Though the doors opened at 8 p.m., the Neon ’80s Dance Party hosted by the WSUSA activities team didn’t really get started until 9 p.m.

A combination of current favorites and classic ’80s style blasted out of the speakers under the capable control of the DJ. Admission was free with a Wildcard.

Many Wildcats came out in full costume, sporting retro styles with face paint glowing under the black lights lining the walls.

Students could paint their own headbands in neon paint, which transformed the Shepherd Union ballrooms into a sea of pastel, glow sticks and retro style.

A non-alcoholic bar staffed by Sodexo offered a full complement of “mocktails” and other mixed drinks appropriate for a dry campus.

Many students also waited patiently in line to get fake tattoos, selecting from over a hundred available designs. A classic photo booth also garnered the attention of groups willing to let loose and have a little fun.
