More than 100 people raised over $10,000 to help find a cure for cancer at the Weber County Relay for Life on June 20 at Bonneville High School.
The event started out with a cancer survivor talking about his battle and asking everyone to reflect on the reason they participate in Relay for Life. The first lap was a walk by the survivors, followed by the caregivers on the second lap. The walking continued through the night with different team members taking the track for each lap.
The teams set up fun activities to help continue to raise money that night like henna tattoos, toilet plunger throwing and princess makeovers with Disney princesses.
The night included a ceremony to remember those lost to cancer with family members decorating luminaries they then put around the track with lighted candles in them.
