At the beginning of each semester, Weber State holds a volunteer fair sponsored by the Center for Community Engaged Learning. On Jan. 27, the Spring Volunteer Fair will host 30 different organizations in the Shepherd Union Building that offer service opportunities for students.

There are many classes at Weber that require students to volunteer in the

community on some level. CCEL offers students a chance to meet with different vendors all in one place, the Shepherd Union’s atrium. There will be over 25 different vendors at the fair, including Habitat for Humanity of Weber & Davis Counties, Ogden Nature Center, DaVinci Academy of Science and the Arts, Catholic Community Services of Northern Utah and Special Olympics Utah.

Jenny Frame—community partner coordinator for CCEL—hopes that many students will attend the fair. She states that getting involved in volunteer work is a great way for students to be engaged and responsible citizens. She also believes that getting involved will help many students find a passion within volunteer work.

“It’s a great way to get to know the community [of Ogden],” Frame said.

There will also be activities during the fair, which include drawings and prizes. CCEL will be handing out bingo cards for students to play along with.

The Spring Volunteer fair is Jan. 27 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This event is open to the public and all students are encouraged to attend. For more information, please contact Jenny Frame at [email protected].
