On Jan. 18, the nation will honor Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. Weber State University will participate in activities throughout the whole week. On Monday, students can eat breakfast and participate in the recreation of the Freedom March on Washington.
The theme for this year is The Fierce Urgency of Now where participants will stand up for equal discipline of all children in every school. This event will be held at the Marshall White Center in Ogden and starts at 9 a.m.
Students can volunteer their time on Jan. 20 at the Boys and Girls Club in Roy. Volunteers will help shovel snow around the club’s building then enjoy hot chocolate with kids at the club. This event begins at 4 p.m.
The Center for Community Engaged Learning will make winter hats for babies on Jan. 21. This event will begin at 1 p.m. in the Shepherd Union building in room 327.
On Jan. 23, students can volunteer to help with the Special Olympics basketball practice. This event takes place at the Stromberg Gym at 8:30 a.m.
