Turning the entire third floor of the Shepherd Union “green,” the Intermountain Sustainability Summit kicked off its first day on Thursday with the campaign of sustainability at the heart of nearly every booth.
Hosted by the Weber State Utah Recycling Alliance, the sixth annual Summit featured a full schedule of activities that brought together environmental professionals and the Weber State community.
Plenary speaker P. Wesley Schultz and keynote speaker David W. Orr started the morning with a series of lectures that addressed new strategies for environmental sustainability.
After the lectures, the crowd was set free to venture through all the vendors to learn about the latest environmental projects.
From new construction ideas to the latest sustainability innovations, nearly 50 booths showcased their research with elaborate science fair-like displays and free handouts.
The summit will continue its “going green” initiative on March 6 with various professional workshops to help students network with all of Utah’s sustainability professionals.
