One has an NFL Super Bowl ring, another has rushed over 2,000 yards in a single season and the last one has never lost a boxing match. What do these three men have in common?

All three either have faced or are facing abuse charges.

Ray Rice had only been suspended two games for allegedly knocking out his then-fiancé in an elevator. Then TMZ got their hands on the video tape that has changed the way that we look at abuse in professional sports. The NFL acted swiftly and suspended Rice indefinitely, which was the right choice. The NFL later took some heat due to the reports that surfaced that they had possession of that tape well before it was released to the public.

Adrian Peterson has been charged for whipping his 4-year-old son and other reports have alleged him in the abuse of another child. Wasn’t this the same guy that lost a child just a year ago due to severe physical abuse? His fall has been fast and he may never recover from it.

Many people want these two men to never play a game in the NFL again and I would be fine with that. What they did was completely unacceptable. Sponsors have suspended their support hoping that the teams and NFL will make the right move. I believe that over time the right choices will be made.

Hopefully you didn’t forget about the third person that was mentioned in the first paragraph. Do you have any ideas who it might be? No, it’s not Mike Tyson or Evander Holyfield. It is Floyd Mayweather Jr., the man who made more money last year than any other athlete.

But let me get back to my point, unlike the first two athletes, Mayweather has been alleged of domestic violence in more than one instance. Heck, this is the guy who publicly defended Rice punching his now-wife in the face. But there has been no outrage directed at him compared to what has happened to Rice and Peterson. People just keep paying hundreds upon hundreds of dollars to watch him beat on his opponents.

But Mayweather continues to deny that he has ever harmed a woman because there are no pictures. Good one Floyd. Do you live life like a teenage girl? If it’s not on Instagram, then it didn’t really happen?

He told Hannah Storm in an interview last week that God is the only one who can judge him. In this case, I hope that he has never laid his hand on a woman, because he’ll pay for it on judgement day.

Abuse is something that needs to stop, not only in the NFL but everywhere. My hope is that we don’t support those who have hurt their loved ones. We don’t need our siblings or children looking up to those type of people, regardless of how many points they score for our favorite teams.
