On May 6, over 70 college players were invited to the 2016 NBA Draft Combine that was held in Chicago, Illinois, to be held on May 11-15. Of those 70 players, Weber State University’s Joel Bolomboy was selected to participate.

At the NBA Combine, players ran a series of drills, performed various athletic tests and answered interview question in front of the National Basketball Association and scouts in preparation for the NBA Draft that will be held on June 23.

“I love the workouts [the Combine] is putting us through, and I can tell my game is getting better everyday,” Bolomboy told Matt McGann during his interview with DraftExpress.

Weber State University has had 15 players drafted into the NBA, including Damian Lillard who was invited to the NBA Combine in 2012 and was the sixth overall draft pick by the Portland Trail Blazers.

Bolomboy placed within the top five in the various combine results including first in the lane agility time with a time of 10.26, first in the bench press with 19 reps, second in the standing vertical leap with 37.5 inches, and fifth place in the shuttle run, three quarter sprints and the max vertical leap.

“I am putting in the work every single day and everything is just starting to come together,” Bolomboy told DaftExpress. “I am definitely blocking more shots, getting more steals and using my length better.”

Bolomboy participated in a work with with the Milwaukee Bucks along side five additional college athletes on May 18. The Bucks currently have the 10th, 36th and 38th picks in the draft. Of the six athletes participating in the work out, Bolomboy was the highest ranked athlete in the mock-draft.

On May 20, Bolomboy began his work out with the Phoenix Suns. The Suns have the 13th, 28th and 34th pick in the draft.

On Memorial Day, Bolomboy participated in a work out with the Philadelphia 76ers and was considered the most prominent prospect out of the six players invited.

During Bolomboy’s work out with the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday, June 6, Bolomboy stated, as of right now, he has no plans to work out with the Jazz.

“Being in Utah for the past four years, I would like to go back,” Bolomboy told reporters. “I am just doing what my agent tells me to do, and if he feels like I need to go out there, I am more than willing to go.”

The Utah Jazz have the rights to the 12th, 42nd and 60th pick in the draft.

According to and DraftExpress, Bolomboy is expected to be drafted in the second round. Bolomboy, however, is hoping for more.

“One of my big goals, when it’s all said and done on June 23rd, is to hear my named called in the first round,” Bolomboy told CBS reporter Ryan Mayer. “I’m on a mission to prove everybody wrong and have a long, successful career in the NBA.”

As of June 6, Bolomboy has completed eight of the 12 workouts he has scheduled before the NBA Draft on June 23 that will be held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, at 10 p.m. MST.
