Five write-in candidates confirmed as student senators
On March 1, Weber State University Student Association Legislative Election Chair Juhi Dubal confirmed that five of the eight senate seats that had not been decided after last month’s student senate elections have now been filled.
Dubal confirmed the following student senators:
- African American Senator: Monica Annoh
- Asian Senator: Zoe Hall
- College of Applied Science and Technology Senator: Daniel Romero
- Pacific Islander Senator: Kambri Broad
- Students with Disabilities Senator: Cade Anderson
The announcement of these senators was delayed because they were write-in candidates. WSUSA had to wait until the candidates had submitted their paperwork and confirmed their candidacy to reveal the results, Dubal said.
The American Indian Senator, Athletic Senator and College of Education Senator positions remain unfilled because the write-in candidates for those seats have not turned in an acceptance response to Dubal.
Peruvian ambassador to visit WSU
Weber State University will host an international guest on March 2. Peru’s Ambassador to the United States will visit the campus to become more familiar with Utah and to talk about economic strategy with Ogden’s business and government leaders.
Luis Miguel Castilla will give a presentation and hold a question and answer session in Elizabeth Hall Room 229 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. After this session, there will be a news conference held in Elizabeth Hall Room 221 during which a Memorandum of Understanding will be signed to, “explore options to expand existing partnerships and consider the establishment of a formal relationship with Ogden and a city in Peru,” according to the press release.
