Ciao!
We have been so busy everyday! Our day starts about 9:30 when we all meet up and find out the plan for the day. Every day involves lots of walking, but yesterday we added a new mode of transportation and went on the train to the next town over called Padova. Talk about confusing! Buying tickets and trying to read the arrival and departure boards proved a challenge. The good thing is that you can get to most places by train or bus. I saw a lot of people asleep on the train, including some of my classmates, and wondered to myself how many people miss their stop because they are asleep.
One interesting thing about Europe is you have to pay 1-2 Euro to use the public bathrooms! They don’t call them restrooms over here in either, they are toilets. Most of the public toilets here don’t have a seat or lid on it. I have come across some that have toilet paper that comes out of the dispenser in rectangles like paper towels.
Dogs seem to be the pet of choice in Venice. I have seen a lot of dogs and few cats. I questioned European’s choice for where to let their dogs use the bathroom. As I walk down narrow, stone streets, there was a strong urine smell, and I wondered if it was coming from humans or animals. As I have watched closer I have seen people walking dogs and letting them do their business right there in the street. Most people are good about cleaning up after their pet, but some don’t. The other thing I have seen is people washing the walls and cobble stones in the morning, which helps get rid of the smell.
Time to say goodbye, I have to run for now.
Off to see more art!
Ciao ciao!!
