Ogden’s biggest snowstorm of the 2014-15 winter came on tax day, with 11 inches falling April 14 and 15, according to the National Weather Service.
While snow in April isn’t unusual along the Wasatch Front, this storm was notable because Northern Utah has had such a dry winter and spring, meterologist Eric Schoening said.
But even with 11 inches falling from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday night, it won’t add enough water to reverse the lack of precipitation in January, February and March, he said.
“We would need 10 to 15 storms like this to make a big dent in our water to get us closer to normal water,” Schoening said. “While it helps a little bit, we’re in a big hole.”
