Beyond the rows of books, the Weber State University Stewart Library offers a variety of interesting services. Take a look at some interesting things you might not have known about the library.
Play video games – Did you know the library has a video gaming lab? Controllers to be used in the library can be checked out at the circulation desk on the ground floor. In addition, games like Halo, Rock Band, Wii Sports and more are also available for take-home rentals.
Dive into archives – The archive collections keep the records for the university. Women’s basketball team records, past commencement speeches, old newspaper archives and more are all public and available to all.
Quiet study areas – On the top floor of the library are designated quiet study areas where you’re less likely to be distracted or interrupted. You could hear a pin drop in the silence that pervades the area.
Special collections – Transport yourself into the creation of the Hoover Dam in the Utah Construction Collection. Revisit WWII by browsing a collection of journals or pictures from the Prisoner of War camp in Ogden. These special collections use primary source information to shed light on historical events in the Davis and Weber County area.
Look at exhibits – Scattered throughout the library is student art. The current art exhibit features student pottery, but the displays change throughout the year so check back often.
Easy computer access – In addition to the computers that can be used at the library, electronics are also available for check out. Laptops can be checked out for single day use in the library or two-day use at home. There are also iPads and iPad Minis available for three-day checkout. When you return the electronics they are completely wiped and ready for another use.
Text a Librarian – Asking questions just got even easier. Send a message to 801-803-5554 with any of your library-related questions and receive a personalized response from a knowledgeable librarian or staff member.
Whether you’re looking for something fun or need help with homework, the library has it all.
