While Ogden is known for being the city Al Capone wouldn’t even stay in, few people know that it’s also home to great community theater.

Located just off the corner of 40th Street and Washington Boulevard, The Ziegfeld Theater will be opening a production of “Fiddler on the Roof” Feb. 6 at 7:30 p.m. In addition to premiering this latest production, The Ziegfeld will also be unveiling a new façade.

To celebrate both occasions, there will be a post-show gala including refreshments and a special performance from J. Michael Bailey, guest artist and star of the upcoming production of “Les Miserables.”

Tickets for “Fiddler on the Roof” are available online or at the door. Students save $3 when they present a valid student ID card at checkout.

“Fiddler on the Roof” follows a small Jewish family living in a rural village in Russia around the turn of the century. Tevye tries to give his daughters tradition in a changing world. Between five headstrong daughters, three of whom wish to defy traditions, and the ever-increasing threat from the Tsar to force all Jews out of Russia, “Fiddler on the Roof” has enough drama to make anyone say “Oy vey.”

Winner of nine Tony awards, “Fiddler on the Roof” includes the famous songs “Matchmaker,” “Sunrise, Sunset” and “If I Were a Rich Man.” With hummable tunes and an endearing, familial message, “Fiddler on the Roof” is appropriate for all audiences, especially those who want to laugh, cry and rejoice along with Tevye and his family.

According to a video posted on The Ziegfeld Theater’s Facebook account, The Ziegfeld opened its doors for audiences in June 2012. Since then, husband and wife Executive Producers Morgan and Caleb Parry have produced 22 shows. In addition to hosting community theater productions, The Ziegfeld Theater also plays host to the improv comedy troupe “Off the Wall Comedy.”

“Fiddler on the Roof” will be performed Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m., with matinees on Feb. 28 and March 7 at 2 p.m., until March 7. Tickets are available online and at the door for $15 for adults and $12 for students, children and seniors.
