If we’re truly being honest with ourselves, we’re more likely to get chased down the street by an axe murderer than to find our soulmates.
In the spirit of the season, here’s a compiled list of horror flicks being released this year for those disenchanted by Valentine’s Day and the premiere of “Fifty Shades of Grey.”
“The Woman in Black 2”
“The Woman in Black 2” was released in theaters Jan. 2. According to IMDb, the movie has received five stars out of 10.
“The Woman in Black”, the first movie, was released in 2012 and received six stars. The sequel depicts a story of children evacuated from London during World War II to the Eel Marsh house, only to come in contact with its darkest resident.
“The Final Girls”
“The Final Girls” will be released March 14 of this year.
This movie depicts the story of a young girl who is grieving her mother’s death. During the grieving process, she is sucked into her mother’s most famous movie, where she must fight off the movie’s killer.
“Apocalypse”
“Apocalypse” is planned to be released this spring. This film tells the story of a deadly virus that is killing off the world’s population.
The scientist responsible for the virus has left a war correspondent with research findings that could help cure the virus. In order to become a leader and take charge, the war correspondent must overcome her anxiety and avoid the deadly special agents who want her dead.
“Insidious Chapter 3”
“Insidious Chapter 3” is planned to be released in June of 2015.
In this prequel to “Insidious,” the film tells the story of how psychic Elise Rainier is reluctant to help a young girl contact the dead.
“Poltergeist”
“Poltergeist” originally came out in 1982, and on Feb. 13 it is returning to theaters in a new adaptation. The film depicts the same plot line as the original, where the young daughter is kidnapped by the poltergeist and the family fights to get her back.
Movies released in January and February aren’t usually highly rated, but sitting alone in the theater, watching people battle a poltergeist may be preferred over the nauseating romance of chick flicks this Valentine’s Day.
