Story Tours of Ogden and Salt Lake offer not only a fun tour of haunted ghoulish areas, but they tell the history of the area and how it came to be a hub for ghostly activity along the way.

I was able to go on a walking ghost tour of local 25th Street in downtown Ogden. It not only satisfied my need for awesome ghost stories, but I learned so much about the street and why it’s considered such a historic icon.

Back in the late 1800’s, when the railroads united at Promontory Point, Ogden became a central hub for people traveling by rail.

The Union Station saw everything from foreign immigrants to soldiers over its lifetime. Ogden had everything that defined the wild west back then: rival gangs, drugs, brothels, thieves and even hidden tunnels beneath Ogden’s 25th Street used for many different activities.

Also known as “Two-Bit Street,” it’s been said that not even notorious gangster Al Capone would walk 25th Street alone at night.

The tour guides aren’t just there to tell you about some ghosts from a script they read. The guides are people who live in the local area. They are great storytellers and have relationships and experiences with the local businesses they talk about.

Just about each building on the street has its own ghost story. This makes sense since so much happened here.

A lot of the people who lived there never quite left.

According to the Story Tours website, 25th Street is “the most haunted street west of the Mississippi.”

There are many chances for those who want to go on a haunted tour. On Halloween night tours are running at 7 and 9 p.m. If you plan to do a bus tour, it’s a good idea to get your tickets in advance to ensure you get a spot.
