Weber State is giving away free tickets to the Utah Jazz preseason basketball game against former Wildcat standout Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers Tuesday night at EnergySolutions Arena.
The giveaway was announced Friday afternoon by the Weber State Marketing and Communications Department.
This will be the first preseason game of the year for both the Trail Blazers and the Jazz, and it will be the third preseason game Lillard has played in Utah since being selected No. 6 overall in the 2012 NBA Draft. The Blazers and the Jazz have split their last two preseason matchups in Salt Lake City, with Portland pulling out a 99-92 win last year. Lillard led Portland to victory with a game-high 24 points while shooting a perfect 10-10 from the free throw line.
Lillard left Weber State for the NBA after his junior season in 2012. He finished the season second in the country in scoring, averaging a school record 24.5 points per game. During his career with the Wildcats, Lillard was a two-time Big Sky Conference MVP, as well as the first player in conference history named to an All-American Team (2012). He is ranked second in school history in career scoring, and is also the career leader in free throws made as well as free throw percentage.
Weber State will be giving away 1,100 tickets on a first-come, first-served basis to students, donors, faculty and staff. Anyone interested in obtaining tickets must contact Beverly Rudd by email at [email protected] or by phone at (801) 626-6468.
There is a limit of eight tickets per person, and those who receive the tickets will receive confirmation by email or phone. The tickets may be picked up at a special Weber State booth at the northeast corner of the arena by the main entrance starting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
In an email, Rudd said that wearing Weber State gear or at least purple is suggested in order to show support for Lillard.
The game will be held at EnergySolutions Arena in downtown Salt Lake City next to the Gateway Mall. Tipoff will be at 7 p.m.
