Kickstarting a company is an innovative way for people to present their ideas to the World Wide Web with the hope of funding them. However, there are times when the people of the internet just stop, stare and wonder how in the world those ideas ever kickstarted their way off the ground.
Zack Brown wanted to make potato salad. He wasn’t looking for any more than $10 to fund his desire. However, the potato salad idea took the internet by storm. Brown was able to raise over $55,000 for his potato salad.
Recently a Los Angeles, California resident who was inspired by Brown has created a project asking for $100 to make ice cream. This project has not lived up to the potential Brown’s project with only $7 of the $100 asked being donated.
Students may respect an entire museum devoted to pizza. Pizza Brain was funded by $16,000 in backing. This museum was awarded “the largest collection of pizza-related items in the world” by the Guinness Book of World Records. Not only will you be surrounded by items with a pizza theme, but this Philly-based museum houses a pizzeria as well.
The Grilled Cheesus is another food-inspired project successfully backed on Kickstarter.com. The Grilled Cheesus is an electronic sandwich press that grills an imprint of Jesus’ face on your sandwich and allows you to make a quick, easy and possibly holy grilled cheese. This project was made into reality with $25,000 in donations.
It seems that food is a theme. Two vegan cooks from Syracuse, New York have successfully kickstarted their graphic novel cookbook, “The Vegan Zombie” with more than $43,000 donated of the $18,500 asked for initially. “The Vegan Zombie” is also an online cooking show that takes place during a zombie apocalypse.
Zombies are a successful theme among Kickstarter campaigns. Anti-Zombie Soap, started by Noah Thompson from Leeds, U.K., was successfully funded on July 13, 2013.
Thompson asked for only 100 euros to start Anti-Zombie Soap but successfully raised more than twice that to start making his soap. All soaps are advertised as SLS free and good for zombie apocalypse survivors with sensitive skin.
Artists from Barcelona, Spain successfully funded their Kickstarter project for a large, inflatable sculptured head of artist Lionel Richie. This project received almost double their initial goal of 4,900 euros.
So even if you think your idea is entirely far-fetched, presenting your idea on Kickstarter.com may be just the type of thing the people of the internet want.
