The Weber State University Athletics Department released the 2014-15 men’s basketball schedule on Wednesday afternoon.
The Wildcats will open the season at home with two exhibition games, playing St. Katherine College on Nov. 1, and Western State University on Nov. 8. They will then play two more games, one at Utah State University and one at home against Presentation College, before traveling to compete in the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam tournament from Nov. 21-24.
Big Sky Conference play will begin for Weber State on Jan. 1, when they travel to Cheney, Washington to play Eastern Washington University. With the addition of Idaho to the Big Sky Conference, the Wildcats will have a new conference schedule where they play seven conference teams twice, and four conference teams once. The four teams that Weber State will play once this season are Portland State and Sacramento State at home, and North Dakota and Northern Colorado on the road.
The Wildcats will end their season with a three game homestand, hosting Idaho State, Idaho, and closing out the season against Eastern Washington.
This season will have several teams facing off against the Wildcats for the first time in years, as well as a couple teams playing Weber State for the first time. With Idaho rejoining the Big Sky Conference, Weber State will play them for the first time since the 1995-96 season, when the Wildcats defeated the Vandals 86-75. The Wildcats have a 52-20 record all-time against the Vandals, and have won six of their last eight games against them.
In their second-to-last non-conference game of the season, the Wildcats will go on the road to take on Oklahoma for the first time in school history. Last year, Oklahoma went 23-10, 12-6 in Big 12 conference play, on their way to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Like the Wildcats, Oklahoma was knocked out in the first round of the tournament, losing to North Dakota State 80-75.
The full schedule can be found on the Weber State Athletics website. The Wildcats will hold their home opener on Nov. 17 against Presentation College.
