Weber State University offers many perks and extracurricular opportunities. One of my favorite perks is free massage chairs. They are located in the Stress Relief Center in the Swensen Building, room 112. The Stress Relief Center offers free tea, hot chocolate, essential oils, coloring books and more. Walk-ins are welcome. The schedule can be found at https://www.weber.edu/relax/.
The gym located in the Swensen Building is free for all students and non-students can pay a $7 fee to enter. There are racquetball courts, tennis courts, rock climbing wall, weights, basketball courts and pools. If you don’t want to register for a class but still want the community that comes with working out in a group, you can try Group-X. Group-X is exercise classes that are free for students ($7 for non-students) to take and include: cycling, aerobics, yoga and swimming. That schedule can be found at https://www.weber.edu/fitness/schedule.html.
There are also free math tutors in Tracy Hall rooms 232 and 233. I have taken advantage of this service several times and probably wouldn’t have passed math without it. Here is the link to check the hours https://www.weber.edu/tutoring/math-tutoring-center.html.
On campus, there is also a writing center that offers help with English classes and assignments, called the Ogden Writing Center located in Elizabeth Hall room 210. Online and in person meetings are available. I would recommend making an appointment first, as they can get pretty busy. To see the hours or learn more check out the link. https://www.weber.edu/tutoring/ogden-writing-center.html
Most general education classes have student tutors as well, ask your professor if that is available for your class.
There’s also a mentoring program located in the Shepherd Union building room 231D. If you are new here and want to make some friends, the mentoring program is a good option for you. Student mentors can offer experience, help you find classes, help you find resources, and help you to feel more connected to Weber. You can learn more or look at the schedule at https://www.weber.edu/pmp/.
The Career Resources Center can help you find a job and update your resume. It is located in the Student Services Center suite 231. You can make an in person or virtual appointment. You can look at the schedule or learn more at https://www.weber.edu/careerservices/.
A free food pantry called Weber Cares Pantry is located in the Stewart Library room 224. No appointment is required to visit. Any questions email [email protected] or call 801-626-6235.
Included in your student fees is healthcare services, they are available through Ogden Clinic Professional Center North, 4650 Harrison Boulevard, Ogden, UT 84403. Basic healthcare is free; such as, check up, sprains, cold, flu, HPV, HIV testing and broken bones. Students will need to tell the front desk that they are students of Weber State and will receive a card that says student on it. Insurance is not required here for students. If you are issued a bill all you have to do is call the number on the bill and they will send it to Weber State. If you have any questions you may contact health care services at 801-626-7503 or email at [email protected] or check out the website at https://www.weber.edu/studentwellness/.
Another thing about Weber is that tuition is the same whether you take 12 or 18 credit hours. I recommend taking advantage of that with the fun classes that are offered. Some of my favorites are Jujitsu, yoga and strength training. Weber offers many fun 1 credit hour PE classes like bowling, archery, tennis, fencing, rock climbing, dance, billiards, etc.
If you are looking for a fun way to stay active there are many options at Weber or if you are looking for some easy pass 1 credit hour classes. You can access the current catalog in your eWeber portal under the “University Catalog” tab.
