- Weber State University’s J.C. Oram (73) blocks for running back C.J. Tuckett in the game against Idaho State University. Oram, along with three others, was announced to the Big Sky All-Conference team.
Nineteen players from the Weber State University football team earned Big Sky Conference honors following the close of the season. Three Wildcats were named to the Big Sky Conference first team, four players were named to the second team and 12 earned honorable mentions.
JC Oram, Nick Webb and Tevia Tolutau were the players selected to the All Conference first team. Also, Tytan Timoteo, Josh Booker, Trevor Pletcher and Josh Kealamakia were voted to the second team.
Senior Nick Webb received first team honors at linebacker for the second-straight season. Webb started all 11 games this season and finished with 101 total tackles, second on the WSU squad and sixth in the Big Sky. The Salt Lake City native had 6.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one blocked kick and five pass breakups. Webb finished his four-year career at WSU with 287 career tackles, ranking ninth in school history. He is second in WSU history in unassisted tackles with 167.
Webb said he felt this team was one of the best teams he has been on and that everyone contributed to the team this season.
“I have never played before on a team that felt this united,” Webb said. “However, we should have turned that unity into more. We had some close wins, and we had some close losses.”v
Webb said the honor meant a lot to him and his family.
“I was congratulated by my family,” Webb said. “My family is honored to have a son on this list again. All the members of my family are excited.”
Director of Football Operations Kamaal Ahmad said each player deserved to be recognized. He said this year, team members all worked hard.
“I am happy for each and every one of them,” Ahmad said. “They all worked hard and earned this special recognition.”
He said these honors can always serve as an extra motivation to keep getting better and better.
Shaydon Kehano, Caleb Turner, Tyson Tiatia, Mike Hoke, Ryan Eastman, Pete Rolf, Caldwell Taylor, Mo Neal, Anthony Morales, Willie Okwuonu and Tony Epperson received an honorable mention from the Big Sky Conference.
Ahmad said the fact that WSU had many players receive Big Sky Honors is proof that the football team is heading in the right direction.
“It feels so good,” Ahmad said. “These honors are a compliment to the players, coaches, and the Weber State football program.”
Senior JC Oram was named to the First Team for two years straight. He started all eleven games on the offensive for the Wildcats, and he finished 47 of his 48 career games.
Ahmad said he was pleased with the team’s performance and feels they have a solid foundation built. He said the team will continue to improve.
“I am very proud of my team,” Ahmaad said. “They have the potential to continue winning these awards.”
Ahmad also said seeing players receive postseason honors is one of the best things about coaching. He said he was happy for all the players.
“I want to congratulate all of those who received all conference honors,” Ahmad said. “I am very proud of them.”
