Vinyl record collectors rejoice, Record Store Day is just around the corner. April 16 is soon approaching and here what to expect from the bi-annual record collecting tradition.

Pressing is limited to 4500 copies on 180 gram, purple-splattered translucent vinyl.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Soundtrack

This collectors’ release is less about the music and more about the art. Pressing to a massive 15-thousand copies, this 10-inch picture disc features artwork from scenes in the film. The album highlights two tracks from the full soundtrack, “March Of The Resistance” and “Rey’s Theme.”

Sublime

Ska/Alternative

Perhaps one of the most sought after Record Store Day releases is Sublime’s “Jah Won’t Pay The Bills.” Originally released on cassette tape in 1991, “Jah Won’t Pay The Bills” is Sublime’s first official album. Very few copies of the original recording exist, and it’s never been reproduced on CD or vinyl. This valuable commodity is limited to 8000 pressings with 420 copies on green vinyl.

Post-hardcore

A staple of Record Store Day, mewithoutYou always seems to deliver something special. This year, the Philadelphia rock mainstay has two offerings. The first is a special edition pressing of 1000 copies of the bands 2012 LP, “Ten Stories.” This version features reimagined packaging and is pressed to red, yellow and orange splatter clear vinyl. The second is a 7-inch split with fellow Philadelphia post-hardcore act Circa Survive. The exclusive two-track disk includes a revisited version of mewithoutYou’s song “Rainbow Signs” and Circa Survive’s “Awake In A Dream.” The release is limited to 2500 copies.

Frank Turner

Folk Rock

Last year, English singer-songwriter Frank Turner released his sixth studio album, “Positive Songs For Negative People.” Turner has done something special for Record Store Day by rerecording the entire album acoustically. Pressing to 3000 copies, Turner is giving a treat to fans looking for a softer edge.

Notorious B.I.G.

Rap

Puff Daddy, Mase and Notorious B.I.G. had a No. 1 hit in the 90s with “Mo Money, Mo Problems.” After the death of Notorious B.I.G., the remaining bad boys of gangsta rap paid homage to the late rapper in the song’s music video. This piece of hip hop history is coming to Record Store Day. Pressing to 5000 copies on green vinyl, the 12-inch maxi-single will feature remixed versions of the acclaimed hit song.

“Anabasis” is the most recent LP from mysterious London outfit Dead Can Dance. A fusion of worldbeat, gothic and dark wave, Dead Can Dance provides a perfect soundtrack for your studies. Back in print for the first time since 2012, “Anabasis” will see a 1500 pressing, double LP release for Record Store Day.
