As a redshirt freshman for the Weber State soccer team, Aubrey Peterson has seen her share of time on the field. Through the heartbreaks and challenges, she has played on and fought for each play. This Friday, Peterson and the Wildcats will play in the final game of their season. But this is no ordinary game for Peterson. We asked about her feelings on this game, and how it will be a family affair.

Q: How do you feel playing in the final game of the season?

A: It really is bittersweet. We have fought so hard this season and have come up short so many times, but now is not the time to look at our mistakes. This is our final opportunity to shine for the season, and so I intend to give my all in this game.

Q: How has it been for you as a freshman this year?

A: It has been a great learning experience. Each game that I have participated in has given me an opportunity to grow and learn as a player.

Q: This game against Idaho State is not only a good conference match up, but an opportunity for you to play against your sister, who plays for the Bengals. How do you feel about that match up?

A: Excited, it should make for a good game.

Q: Was there competition growing up?

A: I would say yes. It started when we were young in gymnastics together. Since that time, a friendly rivalry has grown between us.

Q: Who is the better player?

A: It depends on who you ask. Most will say the the older sister has been the better player out of the both of us. But in recent years, I think the tables have turned on that one.

Q: How do you think you will match up?

A: It will be a close one for sure. We are both good at the game and play at the same position (midfielder) and so it should be a good back and forth when we are both playing.

Q: Will this be a family reunion for you both?

A: Yes. Not just for her and I, but our whole family will be coming out to this game. Our parents, grandparents, really everyone will be coming out to see this game.

Q: Who do you think they will cheer for the loudest?

A: That’s a tough one. My mom has told me that she is conflicted as to how she will be able to cheer equally for the both of us. It will definitely be something to come out and see.

Peterson and the Wildcats will wrap up their season Friday at 3 p.m.
