The Weber State University women’s soccer team was excited to announce the signing of 10 new Wildcats to their team.

“We are very excited about our 10 ladies,” assistant coach Meagan Thunell said. “We feel these ladies are great on the field as well as off, and that they will represent Weber State Soccer in both the classroom and on the field. They also will add depth to our roster.”

Joining the team for the 2017-18 season are seven players from Utah.

Grace Youngberg is a 5-foot-5 defender from Farr West who played for Fremont High School. Youngberg helped lead her team to back-to-back Region 1 Championships in 2015 and 2016.

Katie Allen is a 5-foot-7 forward/midfielder also from Farr West. Allen played for Fremont High School, helping her team win two straight Region 1 titles as a team captain. Allen helped lead her team to second place in the Utah State 5-A Championship.

Harlee Turnbow is a 5-foot-6 defender out of Wellsville. Turnbow played high school soccer for Mountain Crest High School where she received a defensive MVP award for her outstanding efforts on the team.

Kaytlin Bradley is a 5-foot-5 goalkeeper from nearby Roy where she played for Roy High School and earned first team all state as a junior. Before high school, Bradley played club soccer for La Roca FC, where her team won four Utah State Cup Championship games from 2013–2016.

Kinsley Napoli is a 5-foot-2 forward/midfielder from Willard where she also played at Fremont, earning an Academic All-Region award. Napoli played on the same team as Allen, helping guide her team to finish as a runner-up in the 5-A Championship.

Cambrie Lake is a 5-foot-9 midfielder from South Weber and was a four-year varsity starter for the Northridge High School Knights.

Lastly, joining the Wildcats from Utah is Mylee Broad. Broad is a 5-foot-1 midfielder/forward from Ogden who played for the Weber High School Warriors where she won multiple offensive player of the year awards and a MVP award for her time as a captain.

Joining the seven athletes from Utah is Jasmine Lotey, a midfielder who is 5-foot-5 from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Lotey is the second international women’s soccer player ever to sign with Weber State. Lotey was invited to the U17 Canadian National Team after she helped guide her club team to the National Championship.

Sadie Newsom is a 5-foot-3 midfielder from Richland, Washington, where she was a three-year team captain at Hanford High School. Newsom was also a three-time Mid-Columbia Conference selection who earned All-State honors.

The last signee is Haley Thomas, a 5-foot-8 defender and a three time all-league selection for Southridge High School in Kennewick, Washington. Thomas was chosen to the 2016 Region IV team and played in the ODP Inter-regional Tournament, where she was chosen for all-star team for her performance.

Senior goalkeeper Sydnie Brough is excited to be adding new members to their team for the upcoming year.

“The new girls will add depth to the team and motivate everyone to work harder,” Brough said. “They will also allow us teammates to build new friendships.”

The new signees will join the Wildcat soccer team as they begin their 2017-18 season in August.
