In celebration of the Ogden Pioneer Days, a member of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will be making an appearance in Ogden on July 12 to speak at the annual devotional.
Community members and students are invited to attend the free event at Weber State University’s Dee Events Center and hear Elder D. Todd Christofferson speak.
Christofferson was born and raised in Utah. Although he attended high school in New Jersey, he returned to Utah for college, graduating from Brigham Young University. He then went to Duke University to earn a law degree and worked as a law clerk.
He was called to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in April of 2008. Before then, Christofferson served in the Presidency of the Seventy, supervising many areas of the church. He has been actively involved with the church his entire life, serving a mission in Argentina as a young man and also acting as a bishop.
The Pioneer Days devotional has become an annual event to commemorate the entry of the first Mormon settlers in the Salt Lake Valley.
