Many Weber State University students are getting ready to see We Came As Romans, performing on Sunday at the Murray Theater. We Came As Romans performed at Warped Tour this summer in Utah, but this time, they are the headliner for the concert, Utah being one of their stops for their “Tracing Back Roots” tour.
Alex La Marca, a senior majoring in automotive science and technology, said he would like to go to the concert, but cannot due to scheduling conflicts.
“I wish I could go,” he said. “I’d do anything for tickets, but I have a lot of errands I need to do on Sunday.”
Kim Salazar, 21, will be attending the concert. “The thing that gets me pumped about the concert is the people,” he said. “Whether you’re in a mosh pit or chilling on the side, everyone is there to see the band. Everyone sings along to the songs, even though normally it’s embarrassing to do in public.”
Most concert-goers get excited for similar things about the concert.
“The music gets me most excited,” La Marca said. “I enjoy hardcore metal bands, especially how We Came As Romans screaming is in sync with their singing, executing the perfect combination of sound.”
Besides We Came As Romans, concert-goers can see bands like Dangerkids; Silverstein; Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!; and The Color Morale.
Daxon Workman, a junior majoring in accounting who will attend the concert, said he is excited to see We Came As Romans perform.
“I’ve never seen We Came As Romans live, so I’m excited to see them live for the first time,” he said. “I’m also excited to see Silverstein and The Color Morale. I’ve seen Silverstein live, and every time, they always do a great job.”
La Marca, however, said the other bands performing weren’t a big draw for him.
“I don’t really know some of the other bands other than We Came As Romans and Silverstein,” he said. “I think other bands like The Devil Wears Prada, Avenged Sevenfold and Bullet For My Valentine would make a better lineup.”
Others also complained about the date of the concert. General Conference for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints being Sunday made it difficult for some to decide if they could go to the concert or not.
“Sunday in general has inconvenient timing, just because most of us (in Utah) attend church regularly,” Salazar said. “It was going to be a problem for me to attend the concert, but I was able to find a way to be a part of General Conference and go to the concert.”
Tickets for the concert are being sold through Smith’s Tix for $22, plus a service fee, for general admission. VIP packages are sold on the We Came As Romans tour page at http://www.wecameasromans.com/vip/. Packages range from signings with the band to receiving gifts like guitar picks used by the band and an acoustic sessions. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and band merchandise such as T-shirts and stickers will be sold at the concert.
