Changes in Homeless Awareness Week agenda

The Community Involvement Center has made several changes this week in the lineup of homeless awareness activities. Due to a lack of publicity, the homeless panel, which was originally scheduled for Wednesday, was postponed. It is tentatively scheduled for 8:30 tonight during the Cardboard Campout, but might be canceled depending on attendance, according to community liaison Jeff Robbins. The cardboard house competition, intended for students to compete in designing cardboard houses for the campout, was originally scheduled for Tuesday. Due to restrictions as to how long the buildings could take up space in the Bell Tower Plaza, the event was rescheduled for Thursday, only to be canceled due to planned participation falling through.

The Cardboard Campout will proceed as planned, beginning at 7 p.m. tonight in the Bell Tower Plaza. Participants planning to spend the night are encouraged to bring their own cardboard, blankets and coats. Students may not bring tents, inflatable mattresses or anything that would detract from the homelessness concept. From 7-9 p.m., participants may also help assemble homeless kits in the Shepherd Union Building’s Sky Room for St. Anne’s Shelter.
