Ann Millner announces plans to step down

After 10 years as Weber State University’s president, Ann Millner is stepping down.

Millner announced her plans to faculty and staff Friday afternoon and said she has asked the Board of Regents to begin searching for her replacement. In the meantime, she will continue as president.

Although Millner said she is planning her future, she said she would like to continue to be involved at WSU and will advocate for higher education in Utah. She also said she is considering teaching university classes. Millner said she had always planned to step down after 8-10 years and that she has served longer than most university presidents.

In a letter to faculty and staff, Millner commended her colleagues for their commitment to students and the university and outlined the progress of the school in the last several years.

She told The Signpost one of her greatest challenges as president was working through the worst economic recession in years. She also said she’s excited to have more time to read books for leisure.
